Hello from Alaska

I recently visited my family in Gustavus, Alaska. The sky cleared to unveil all of Alaska's treasures. We took an 8-hour boat tour through Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve that began in spring weather, driving deeper and deeper up the bay that ended in the belly of winter, where the water was filled with icebergs. We passed countless snowy peaks, sea otters, whales, porpoises, sea lions, and wild mountain goats. The boat ride covered approximately the same square miles as the state of Connecticut, with mountain peaks rising high above the sea.

Updating your children's book portfolio

It’s important to update your printed book portfolio annually to showcase your latest work. I’ve put together my most recent work to show at the Marvelous Midwest SCBWI Conference, May 3-5. I will talk all about how to put together the best presentation of a book portfolio at the May Loft Picture Book Salon, hosted by Molly Beth Griffin.

SCBWI Minnesota Postcard Gallery

As the Illustrator Coordinator of SCBWI Minnesota, I started a program earlier in 2017 called the SCBWI Minnesota Postcard Gallery. It is an online gallery for our members to showcase their self-promotion postcards.

I really enjoy seeing it grow from the ground up.  And I look forward to many posts to come. We will update this gallery 4x/year. See you July 15th!
